100 watt ham transmitter near a blue
#1
I have a ham radio. Yaesu FT-450D. I transmit 100 watts on the 20, 40, 80, and 160 meters ham bands. How should I protect a blue in the same radio shack?

I have a similar situation TS680S, 100 watts, and had no problem. For higher powers there might be and separation of the antennas and ferites on all the leads might help.

i've recently had problems with 400w on 160m about 15m from my ferrite rod aerials. THe H preamp seems to have failed in my blue. Is a schematic available for it?

I'm not a HAM, but isn't there a 100w ERP limit on 160M?

Thanks, I've found the diagrams. looks like the 49.9 ohm resistors on the output of the preamp have failed and probably the op amps too., possibly pickup on the interconnecting lead, not shielded, must replace with shielded cable as it runs across  my earth mat.  We are allowed 400w pep on the lower part of 160m in theUK but only 32 w above 1850 KHz.

Oh Yes... shielded cable preamp-controller is specified. Always.
Unshielded (normally) controller to router/modem. Thanks for the info on band power.

In my opinion, such people who have various high-power transmitters close to them (their own and some other not their own) should not use the Blitzortung network station then.

My 75 meter dipole is not very far from my station 2294. Over 60 watts sends it into interference mode, and over 100 watts does the same thing to 1977. I usually power them down when I want to QSO on 75m.

Mike W.

I've now changed the resistors (slightly different value) and it seems to be working. I'm also now using shielded (FTP) cat 6 cable to connect with ferrites on it. I'll see how it goes.

I've been using the E field probe which had limited sensitivity whilst the H field aerial was faulty. It has now failed, power (led on) to the pre-amp but no output. What is likely to have failed?
