There's no problem on Lightningmaps.org itself, but it seems that Blitzortung.org doesn't provide "good" lightning data any more to external apps. Only Egon knows why...

strange i was watching the EU live map on BO today. seen multiple detection's from many stations in the UK to the border of Syria/Iraq (NE) which from my site is over 4000km away, yet no detections shown on Lightningmaps.org.
so are we saying Blitzortung.org live maps are now inaccurate?

The current LightningMaps.org application will not accept the new data Egon is developing.

As a possible answer to an anticipated question,
"Will this be resolved?".... I'm sure it will.
"When?" Unknown.
Remember this is the year of "quality" and detection /location improvement. Server signal and data processing is a part of that.

thanks for the explanation.

Yes thanks for info.
Jeff
It probably would have been good to put some sort of message on lightningmaps.org that there is a problem. That's called customer service and courtesy.

However, please remember that Blitzortung is a hobby, not a commercial enterprise.
See http://forum.blitzortung.org/showthread.php?tid=1128
The developers are a very small group of private individuals who have full-time jobs and families.
They do not have time to monitor and post to the websites, and forums, answer emails,
pursue their careers, family and personal life, and work on their vision of the network, hardware design, and programming.
Development and support finances are provided by them, a bit of Ad money from the websites, and occasional donations.
Many times changes to such things as data availability and distribution are expected to be, and are, transparent to the end user.
Sometimes they don't happen quickly, as are the ongoing upgrades and enhancements expected this year.
Please expect and accept 'issues' like this at times. It happens in any enterprise, commercial, scientific, private, hobbyist.

Of course we will show messages on the websites if there are bigger or long lasting issues.
But there wasn't any real problem, it was an improvement. As Egon posted in the other thread, Blitzortung.org showed a completely new dataset, while the exported data was still the old one. Lightningmaps.org, MyBlitzortung, Euroblitz, Smartphone Apps etc. showed the old data too.

It is great to see Egon has got it all happy again with all our lightning tracker sites.
