Sometimes it is possible to check the accuracy og the system.
A lightning in a church steeple - the time is known, and the strongest in nearby

It seems that the strike falling down above of shown point, "see" the steeple just 20 m above ground, bend up and strike. So marked shown point is exactly right.

Well, what does the 'point' mean when a lightning is some thousand meters long and probably has also some branches?
