Hi everybody,
I received Kellogs email to
RIPE NCC Atlas project
mailing list yesterday and started to read all
blitzortung.org and forums pages including
this topic.
I really like to be involved in community projects so I applied for Blitzortung system blue(Your request is ranked at position 1746 of 1747).
I work as a
Linux/Unix
system administrator in
Iran and have some experience with
Raspberry Pi 3 but I'm not sure if I could host Blitzortung system blue.
I know it's more a hobby project and it's not Plug and Play like
RIPE Atlas probe, but it would be better to make it easier to understand and more documented.
I will also send email to
Egon to translate website in
Persian (Farsi) language.
If you know any other help that I can do (translation or hosting sites & files on Linux servers in Iran and Middle East) please send me a PM.
Thank you so much for these community projects that let us learn new things and feel awesome regardless of
crazy politic games that want to keep us in a jail!
Best regards.
P.S: Email that I received in mailing list:
[atlas] Introducing blitzortung.org Network for Lightning and Thunderstorms in Real Time
Dear Friends from RIPE community,
This is my first post on the forum. I would like to point out to the
community the existence of a free community providing a network device
for Lightning and Thunderstorms in Real Time:
http://blitzortung.org
The device works the same as a RIPE probe, except that it collects
information about lightning via radio and delivers the information to a
central network of computers for data processing.
If you are network specialist hosting very expensive network devices,
it might be interesting for you to participate in the effort to build a
free community and host a Blitzordnung device in your premisses.
All information can be found on
http://blitzortung.org
and BlitzOrdnung forum :
http://en.blitzortung.org/forum.php
BlitzOrdnung coverage is good in Europe and North America, but
BlitzOrdnung needs more devices in Africa/South America/China and
Russia. All help is welcome and may save you a lot of money in
lightning protection.
Kind regards,
Kellogs
