Hi,
I read not to ask for ordering kits. I just wonder if there will be another batch of systems become available. I have been on the list for about two years now at rank position 3559 of 4350. I would love to contribute and keep my fingers crossed for a mention of new hardware, but after two years I start to wonder if new kits will become available.
Best regards, Peter
It took me about three years to get mine. I forgot all about it and got an email out of the blue asking if I was still interested. I think they prioritize areas with low coverage first. We had some gaps here in Florida, so I’m sure that’s why my location was picked. But it did take three years or maybe more.
Good luck!

Thanks, Peter

The Benelux area and Germany is really crowded with stations, which unfortunately puts you rather low on their priority list, if they have one
What Jorgeminator said.
I suspected your slow progress down the list was due to many detectors in the region.
They are trying to cover sparse areas first.

If you have a general interrest, stay in the waiting list. One day you will receive a mail from Egon, telling System Blue (or whichever color code will be used by then) is available. At this point you still can decide, whether it fits into your current situation or not. If you want to start with the project the day after tomorrow, this project is most likely not for you.
Around my station, there are at this moment 5 stations active in a circle of 50 km radius and 32 stations in a cirlce of 100 km.
Around Amsterdam, there are at this moment 6 stations active in a circle of 50 km radius and 22 stations in a cirlce of 100 km.
Unfortunatelly I don't know the criteria and priorities. At least the 100 km radius seems not to be "over-crowded" in comparison to the south west corner of Germany/Switzerland/France.

To put some perspective on station densities there are zero stations within a radius of 1100km of my station in North Queensland, Australia. Relative to this just about anywhere in Europe is saturated with stations.
Thanks for all the answers. I'll just stay on the list and see what happens.
Best regards, Peter

Hi, I don't say you are wrong, but the wide distance between stations in Australia is just a consequence of the sparsely populated country. In Germany roughly one out of 400000 people operates a Blitzortung station, in Australia one out of 500000 people operates a Blitzortung station. This is roughly the same order of magnitude.
A comparison:
Australia:
- population 24,955,800; area 7,692,024 km² => 3.2 people/km²
- active Blitzortung stations: 50 => 1 station / 499116 people; 1 station / 159240 km²
Germany:
- population 82,800,000; area 357,168 km2 => 232 people/km²
- active Blitzortung stations: 204 => 1 station / 405882 people; 1 station / 1751 km²
