Dear Blitzortung team,
We are GET Tech Innovation, S.L., a Spanish company serving insurance-claims professionals. We operate GET Radar, a weather-monitoring service used to cross-check reported property claims against observed weather. The service is currently free and in calibration; it displays real-time lightning activity with attribution while it remains non-commercial. We are aware that your conditions prohibit commercial use of Blitzortung data and, expressly, their use for "plausibility checks of overvoltage damages" and "risk analysis" - so before our service ever becomes a paid product we want to clarify the licensing position, and we will remove the lightning layer entirely if no path exists.
Our question: does any licensing path exist (directly with Blitzortung.org, with individual station operators, or through an authorised commercial partner) that would allow:
1. displaying real-time lightning activity in a commercial web service, with attribution; and
2. using archived strike data to assess the plausibility of lightning-related insurance claims?
If such a path exists, we would like to know its conditions and cost. If it does not, we would appreciate a short confirmation so we can close this line permanently.
Kind regards,
GET Tech Innovation, S.L. (Spain)
