Discovered this site a couple of months ago when I was looking for information on lightning. I'm amazed how lightning can be detected at such long distances, and how fast it can be displayed. As well how many strikes some areas receive during a storm. Now whenever we have a weather system come through I check the weather radar then this site to see the lightning activity we might expect.

Myself and a few of my friends are amateur radio operators (Hams) and also members of Canwarn, (volunteer severe weather spotting and reporting program) from what I've read this a similar to Skywarn Europe. I sent them link for this site and we have been discussing the possibility of setting up a detection system. Its something we might like to do in as a group project in the future.

ich sende mir Alert-Meldungen an einen Intranet-Server per URL-Aufruf. Inhalt dieser URL sind nach dem Domain-Namen einige Werte, die ich dann auswerten kann/möchte.

weil mein Englisch für diese Frage nicht ausreicht, versuche ich es erst gar nicht, daher hier:

Ich habe seit Ende Juni 2016 ein System Blue im Einsatz. Es läuft auch zu meiner Zufriedenheit. Nun möchte ich Gewitterwarnmeldungen auf einem Info-Display im Wohnzimmer ausgeben. Dieses Display (ausgemustertes Android-Tablet) nutze ich schon geraume Zeit um einige "Smarthome"-Zustände/Werte anzuzeigen. Diese stammen aus Fhem. Die auf dem Display anzuzeigenden Daten bereite ich mit einem Apache2-Web-Server auf, wo ein PHP-Skript mit ein wenig HTML und CSS den Fhem-Server abfragt. Fhem (Port 8083) und Apache (Port 80) laufen auf dem selben Linux-Heimserver, also selbe IP-Adresse.

Im System Blue habe ich nun einen Alert definiert und eine Action daran gebunden, welche den Aufruf der folgenden URL beinhaltet:

The controller indicates a GPS signal and Network (GPS led blinks, Network LED is turned on)

I wasn't able to find a description about how the LEDs should be interpreted. Is there such a description?

Ich finde es genial was Ihr zusammen geschafft habt und hänge andauernd vor der Karte sobald es donnert !
Nun würde ich gerne auch bei mir einen Empfänger aufstellen um ein Teil der Flächenabdeckung zu sein.
Leider fehlt es mir an jeglichen Mitteln um hier etwas teureres hinzustellen, wenngleich bei dem Dach, und auch unter der Terasse genügend Platz wäre.
Was löten etc. angeht bin ich relativ unbedarft...

Habt Ihr eine Idee wie ich helfen kann bzw. etwas hier in Münster aufstellen könnte ?

Hi, folks. First post here...
I'm adept at soldering SMD's (100-pin lqfp is a doddle!) - just 0402 resistors seem to Bother me - I'm 60 years old, after all. Can't find the damn things on the kitchen table (number of times I've tried to solder a breadcrumb onto a board...)

I've been looking at the site, and a couple of questions:
Where do I get the kit...and
My Internet connection (as most in Finland are) is 3G, not wired. Will that produce a significant delay, or is Blue 'smart enough' to send the network time along with the data?
Sorry, just learning about this, but as blitzortung has few detectors in Finland (nearest is in Kemi, about 100kM north of Oulu) I'd like to add to this.

All the pictures of the two or three ferrite antennas that are used for the BLUE systems show no shielding.

With RED it made a huge difference for the H field ferrite installation for me, once I grounded the shields.

Is this necessary for the BLUE system or does the type of input minimize the need for doing that extra work?

A rebuild of the mounting system for the antenna cores would be necessary if I'm going to have to eventually shield them.

Hi All,

I received my System Blue last week and am in the process of building the unit, antenna etc.  In the Blue assembly manual on page 5 mention is made of the circuit diagrams.  Where might I find these and is a full technical manual available for Blue as there was for Red?  In particular is the pinout for the USB power connector the same in Blue as it is in Red?
