OMG. Those guys are really stupid. They have other videos where they are launching a kite inside a thunderstorm. That's really dangerous:

From what I know the electric field below a thunderstorm is about 10kV/m. If they add 10kV to their kite this would add around 1m in "virtual" height. Not very much, maybe there are other factors. In my opinion they just had "luck" here, in both ways. Dodgy

No, they are not stupid, they are form Ukraine (sounds good Smile ). They just try to show some things that are realy interesting but you will never to it by youself.
