Servers Damaged (Mostly affecting LMO ?) - cutty - 2021-03-10 A fire early today has destroyed one of OVHcloud’s Strasbourg data centres and part of a second one, the French cloud provider’s CEO, Octave Klaba, wrote in a tweet. He confirmed that all the people working at the site were safe. OVHcloud is the biggest European-based cloud services provider, competing against U.S. giants Amazon Web Services, Microsoft’s Azure and Google Cloud, which dominate the market. https://www.systemtek.co.uk/2021/03/fire-has-destroyed-ovhs-strasbourg-data-centre-sbg2/ Major issues with our adjunct, lightningmaps.org. Info is LMO will be offline for several days. BT servers seem ok at this Posting time. Mike RE: Servers Damaged (Mostly affecting LMO ?) - Tobi - 2021-03-10 LightningMaps.org had two servers there and both are gone forever. They literally moved to the cloud. One of the server was mainly a backup server, but the other one was a productive server. We have a second backup ("tier 3"), which takes much longer to restore. Some of the services have already been moved on other servers at other locations/hosters. The live map is running since 10:00 UTC. Other services like the archive will be restored within the coming days. Blitzortung.org, the station network and lightning locating wasn't affected. I would be very disappointed if this long time data (e.g. spatial lightning distribution) was lost in the fire. Today was lightnings, but haven't got any email about that. I worked fine until 2020-11-19 18:52:21 EET (No lightnings in wintertime). Could the problem be due to a fire accident? RE: Servers Damaged (Mostly affecting LMO ?) - MTO-Mareuil - 2021-04-25 Hello everyone Following the OVH fire it seems that the data is starting to go back to https://www.lightningmaps.org/. The data is very weird, because I now have two red s2401 detectors to display, one which is active, the other which does not return the data !!! However, I only have one RED detector. The Blue s2783 detector also does not send any data back to the OVH server, however my two detectors are connected to the servers with the same connection ip !!!! When I look at the detectors in my country, many no longer report their data received ... Does anyone have any solutions? Or wait until the server data received on OVH is more accurate ... thank you to all of you. Patrick. RE: Servers Damaged (Mostly affecting LMO ?) - mwaters - 2021-04-25 Patrick, Well, that's the best news I've heard since the fire!!! I think that we have to wait until the server data received on the server that replaced OVH's is more accurate. Patience, everyone. (same for the s2783 detector active but no data reception) see photo 1 attached If I connect with the identifiers of my blue s2783 detector, I only have one red detector but no data received .... see photo 2 in attachment Can someone help me understand this quirk .... The LMO database hasn't synced properly with Blitzortung for about 2 years now. That's why. There are numerous posts relating to this. |
