Is there any statistic on the total number of lightning strikes (per year, per day, or overall) besides what’s shown on lightningmaps.org, which is very unclear?
I’m using lightning data to experiment with DuckDB and would like to know the average number of strikes per year/overall to estimate how much storage the data will require.
I haven’t been able to find detailed numbers.
lightningmaps.org says that they have stored ~50Mio strikes. But over which timefratme?
If no official stats exist, does anyone have an estimate from their own projects?
I would be super thankful for any info.
Thanks for any replies.
