The FAQ will close
#1
Hello, is there any action to take the content of the Site www.faq-blitzortung.org to this site, because the Faq will close at September 14? It would be sad if the Content will be lost.

I would suggest that much of the FAQ material is dated, some even obsolete. Virtually all of the FAQ info as it currently exists can be found in other documentation.
Another reason - the developers simply do not have time to maintain the FAQ portion at the present time.

It may be that newer, more responsive FAQs would return after the very rapid changes in system design and network size this past year stabilizes.

Really, I think the FAQ are very interesting for newbie and by no means out of date. I've finally set up my kit (green System) and the information was very helpful, as opposed to the official documentation because i have not found any Dokumentation for the green System on the official Site.

You are right about GREEN system.
However, it is a problem to adopt too much from here when you start System RED - it gives too much confusion
For me GREEN is history - I have plenty of it lying around, but it does not interest me anymore.
New must see System RED only when GREEN is not an option.

I think it's fine to store FAQ for GREEN as long as it does not mix together.

The FAQ was one of the most important websites in the past years. It helped a lot during our build up phase with the GREEN stations and I'm sure we wouldn't have so much participants without this FAQ. Since system RED and due to lack of time Egon and me weren't able to take care about the entries anymore. Thanks a lot to Wolfgang who did a great job with his FAQ page.

Maybe someone can grab the website to create a historc archive. Wink

What do you guys say about creating a new faq?

We could put information about RED and a few about GREEN?

If there are volunteers to do that with me and if the staff agrees...

Note that we are working on revisions to the forum , which will take awhile, meantime, I've got a barebones version of the old FAQ's online, at least temporarily at http://frankfortweather.us/bofaq/www.faq...x75f4.html

Cheers!
