GPS antennea seems to die, is this typical of inexpensive units?

Hello fellow users,
it seems that I have the same problem with my GPS reception. (Station 2947)
In the meantime I have tried another GPS antenna but without any result.
I tried to follow the link in this thread, but I am not authorized to do so. ???
Do I have to submit a request somewhere for that?
