Question about station signal quality and too many pulses
#1
Hi everyone,
I’ve recently set up my Blitzortung station, and it seems to be working fine overall, but I keep noticing that my station often shows “too many pulses” and gets flagged with poor signal quality on the LightningMaps status page.
A few things I’m unsure about:
  • Is this usually caused by incorrect antenna placement (too much local noise), or could it be a configuration issue in the controller?
  • Would adjusting the gain settings help reduce the number of invalid pulses without missing actual strikes?
  • Is there a recommended way to identify the main source of local interference?
I’m still learning how to properly tune the station, so any tips or examples from experienced users would be very helpful.
Thanks in advance!

1. You're giving us no information.
What's your new station's number? Your user number? We won't upgrade your forum account for operator discussion access until we confirm you're an actual operator
Where are you?  You're apparently using a VPN, can't tell if you're in Bangkok or Phoenix.,,.. (last two IP addresses)
...etc  Dodgy
2. Lightningmaps.org typically because of a need of update, is NOT currently the 'go to' place to trust.
You should become familiar with the features on the 'official' Blitzortung site. At some point Tobi will make the necessary upgrades to Lightningmaps.org, so it interfaces correctly with the evolving official Blitzortung generated data, and station listing pages.
numerous posts to this effect.  In fact, I'm a bit surprised your station even registers properly, if new, on that site, since the databases don't always coincide with the changes periodically in the actual Blitzortung server calculations and listings.
