Hi, I am new here, so this question might have been asked before.

Isnt the country of the one that requests is a little too vague. Wouldn't it be better to make something similar to Google Forms where users could input where they could set up the station with low but higher-than-country accuracy? Then you could select the areas which has the most need for new stations and narrow down the requests.

I have no experience with how the distribution of stations works at all, mostly wondering.

Hi there the network seem to have stoped working on my system blue last record is 2020-05-30 and i can no longer se it in my router.
Tried to restart it and the netvork diod just flash slowly.
Any ideas how to fix this?

Station 2709 in Valparaiso, Indiana has only been active for a week, yet he is consistently outperforming most of North America. I don't recall ever seeing a new station do this. 

He is in a low-noise area, the storms have been quite a distance away, and since his gains are constantly changing he is apparently in Automatic mode. Of course, he may need some assistance once some storms get close. But regardless, you have to applaud the guy!

I wonder if E-field antenna could be casted in resin to make it more weatherproof. Would casting detoriate the performance? I have thought to put the antenna inside a plastic pipe tube and then fill it with resin to seal it from rain and weather.

I'm a newbie here so please excuse me if this is a duplication.  I did perform a search but didn't find anything.

I'm getting conflicting information regarding an appropriate GPS antenna for System Blue PCB 20.6.  Do I need an active or a passive antenna?  At one point I read the GPS needs to run on 3 VDC, yet I don't measure any voltage on the SMA connector on the board, and looking at the schematic it appears the GPS RX chip might already be on the board so passive would be what I need.

Any guidance would be appreciated.

Hi all. I've taken down station 1166, we have 2 high power electric fence systems on the property that wipe it out. It's time for a new quiet location to best serve Blitzortung. This station regularly ran in the top 10 and at times top few, easily picked up strokes from South America to the West coast from USA Tennessee. It has an E-Field and 2 carefully made ferrite rod antennas. This station has been up since 2013 until sporadic use the past few years.  I will place it on Ebay under the username 8mark on 5/10/2020.   Everything is included except the standard jumpers to the antennas, I hope it finds a great new home. Hi all,

I am now working for years to create a completely unattended, solar powered lightning station, just solved the power problem and the fact that solar panels send lots of unwanted interferences.

My AMP PCB in the meantime after the years seems to be broken. 
Does somebody has an amp to sell maybe? I don't find the time to order / solder one again.

If not then I will consider going blue...

I have been a lurker, just a blitzortung site watcher from time to time,  not very active but now wish to learn how to build a  Lightning detector receiver, and possibly place it at a needed remote region for use.
How do I start?  Where can I purchase necessary board, parts, kits, of the latest version of the receiver?
If the group had a most needed region world wide to place a new receiver, where would it be?     


Also, has anyone studied  detector efficiency in terms of hits when it is at an Antipode location?  Is there an increase in signal or propagation enhancement when you are at an antipode from the lightning strike?

Is there any way to quickly find and bring up a webcam at a location of an active lightning storm? 


If you are a ham radio operator,  say in the USA , California west coast,  and you see a severe storm in Florida and pointed your quads, or yagis to Florida, would you notice in receiver audio a higher noise level  or  lightning noise bursts when properly aimed at a high activity region, on the Blitzortung map?
Could you correlate seeing, specific strikes, factoring in the  multi second, delay factor, with what you hear?

I'm a participant (station 2441, user1905). I used to be subscribed as participant but now seem to be as a registered member. How do I change forum  status to participant?

It's taken me a few months to get the system going (mostly due to work restrictions)... But 2696 went live tonight. It will detect signals along side my now ancient (but still collecting data) 1374 system green. I'm so happy to get this device up and running. It is located in Savannah, GA USA.
