First a reply to Station Roko:
Sorry to hear that you are apparently experiencing the dame problem as I am. Unfortunately, I do not think for a trying to adjust the gain on the antennas is a practical solution for me. I would rather try to fix the controller to be able to control the gains, thresholds and the various filtering options. I do have quite a bit of environmental noise, and the filters are reasonably effective. Noise levels vary over time and being to adjust from the controller is best for me but thank you for sharing your insights.
Cutty:
Thank you for your response as well.
To answer your questions, yes I have installed the latest firmware version (11.0b3). This was installed on March 31, 2025. It has functioned fine with no issue until yesterday.
Note also that I did not fix the GPS firmware for the rollover glitch that occurred last year. I did a workaround fix that I cannot remember the details of, that allowed the GPS and BT Servers to work together. I honestly do not remember what I did, but I did follow instructions for the work around provided when the problem occurred last year. When I saw the instructions for making a GPS FW upgrade, they appeared too complex for me, so I opted to stick with the workaround.
Repeating, all I was doing was adjusting gains and thresholds. It was after a reboot of the controller, that I initiated, that I was unable to connect to the controller from my Web Browser after the reboot completed.
The controller is still running after the re-boot, and I am still detecting and reporting to the servers (Station ID 2110. There is an electric cattle fence in my vicinity and that comes in loud and clear. that goes off 1/ second.
Unfortunately, the gain and thresholds and filter options I selected degraded performance substantially from my previous settings that were saved. So, I assume the controller rebooted back top those last saved settings. Again, I can still ping the controller and get a valid response.
Note that I am not a network or router expert at all. I can kind of just get by with the knowledge that I have. I understand some of the discussion on the links you provided, but some things I do not understand.
First, I would like to ask several alternate questions regarding approaches that may be easier than doing a full factory reset (at least for me and my limitted knowledge).
(1) One of the links you provided stated the following:
"Disable webserver"
Disables the webserver completely. It can only be enabled again by a factory reset or by a remote command.
Is it possible for you, or a developer or operator that is part of the Blitzortung team, to perform this function by remote command? Could this solve my problem with the Web interface?
(2) Another option might be to utilize the Automatic FW Update that was incorporated in Firmware Version 10.X and beyond. Again I am at vrsion 11.0b3.
THe Blitzortung literture states the following:
Firmware update¶
Automatic update¶
With firmware version 10 we introduced a new automatic update feature. In case of a new firmware release the controller itself can download the firmware file from our server. After that the downloaded firmware will be verified and can be written to the flash. Both, download and flashing can be triggered manually by you or by the server.
Is it possible for you, or a developer or operator that is part of the Blitzortung team, to perform an automatic FW version Update to either remote command?
It would seem that a remote upload of the controller FW if that is implemented would also update and fix whatever glitch there is in my ability to log into the controller with the web browser?
I thought I would ask if either of the above options are possible?
Now some questions on a factory reset, if that is the only way to proceed.
(3) Final Options "Factory reset to hard-coded settings"
Where can I find detailed instructions and maybe even a photo / illustration that shows me the PCB layout and button location(s) to perform the first series of steps... Is there a link with exactly how to do this procedure that you directed me to use See below.
"Since you can't access the tools GUI page, you MUST RESET with the manual method -- the button combos. Let it reboot, GPS 1PPS flashes, etc."
One of the links states that the procedure is to:
"Factory Reset by Button¶
Connect the power and hold the BOOT1 button while doing a short push on the Reset button. Still hold the BOOT1 button and wait at least 5 seconds. You might also hear a beep shortly after reset and then again after 4-5 seconds. After you release BOOT1 the system should do a reset and start again with factory settings.
I assume that Power is connected but the System Blue Controller On-Off switch is "off" when pressing the BOOT 1 Button while doing a short push on the Reset Button. Again, is their an illustration of which buttons on the PCB?
Of course, I will not get the 1 PPS flashes because of last years the roll over issue, so I guess ignore that step and move on?
As I recall the GPS FW update was somewhat complex. Sop that is why I just fixed it with the 9.4 firmware update (less elegant alternate, but simple fix).
When I update the controller FW via the Web Browser back to version 11.0b3, I should get the 1 PPS blue light sync to GPS.
When I put the controller back into my network, and reboot everything including my Router with the controller re-set to factor settings, wont my Router assign the IP address? Why do you say it ...
" GUI should work by accessing at http://192.168.1.235"
Wont I have to look at my Router Network Map to get the address the Router assigns, not likely that my LINKSYS Router would assign that IP? What am I missing here?
Thank you very much Cutty for your patience and help on this to get this problem resolved.
I would find it hard to believe it is a router problem or computer problem, hopefully just some kind of glitch in the controller that is reasonable easy to address via the various options above.
If Blitzortung via the Server could try a remote initiated FW update for me, that would be pretty cool! We could learn if it works to resolve a problem like this. If it did not work, I could always fall back to the manual reboot to factory settings you have suggested?
Cutty, final thoughts before proceeding with one of the options you recommend above?
