Egon & Cutty,  I don't think this is the correct place to ask my question but I can't seem to find another.  I have my system blue but I can not get into the area to get an account and register the controller.  Can you please send me some type of instructions for this.  I am pretty sure I Have the IP address of the controller but need to get into the user area.  Sogfinder
Does anyone want to order a station in Russia?

Hi everybody,

I received Kellogs email to RIPE NCC Atlas project mailing list yesterday and started to read all blitzortung.org and forums pages including this topic.
I really like to be involved in community projects so I applied for Blitzortung system blue(Your request is ranked at position 1746 of 1747).
I work as a Linux/Unix system administrator in Iran and have some experience with Raspberry Pi 3 but I'm not sure if I could host Blitzortung system blue.
I know it's more a hobby project and it's not Plug and Play like RIPE Atlas probe, but it would be better to make it easier to understand and more documented.
I will also send email to Egon to translate website in Persian (Farsi) language.
If you know any other help that I can do (translation or hosting sites & files on Linux servers in Iran and Middle East) please send me a PM.

Thank you so much for these community projects that let us learn new things and feel awesome regardless of crazy politic games that want to keep us in a jail!
Best regards.  Heart Lightning Cloud

P.S: Email that I received in mailing list:
[atlas] Introducing blitzortung.org Network for Lightning and Thunderstorms in Real Time

Dear Friends from RIPE community,

This is my first post on the forum. I would like to point out to the
community the existence of a free community providing a network device
for Lightning and Thunderstorms in Real Time:

http://blitzortung.org

The device works the same as a RIPE probe, except that it collects
information about lightning via radio and delivers the information to a
central network of computers for data processing.

If you are network specialist hosting very expensive network devices,
it might be interesting for you to participate in the effort to build a
free community and host a Blitzordnung device in your premisses.

All information can be found on http://blitzortung.org
and BlitzOrdnung forum : http://en.blitzortung.org/forum.php

BlitzOrdnung coverage is good in Europe and North America, but
BlitzOrdnung needs more devices in Africa/South America/China and
Russia. All help is welcome and may save you a lot of money in
lightning protection.

Kind regards,
Kellogs

Yes, Cutty is right. I don't speak for Blitzortung. Cutty speaks for Blizortung.

It's the same as placing an order for one System Blue. You have to sign to the waiting list and if you're lucky, in a half year's time (at least) there will be your turn. Egon will contact you and ask you to place your order. You'll have to be really patient on this one.

You meant to say "at least three years". I don't mean to be grumpy because this is a volunteer project, but I've been waiting for three years. My priority number is >2000, so I expect to be waiting a few more years unless somebody decides that Blitzortung needs a LOT of stations, and System Blue is reliable hardware.

If getting thousands of boards produced is a matter of cash flow, use IndieGoGo, or Crowd Supply to produce them in quantity.

I don't think it will be that long.... remember that a good portion of those on list will NOT actually follow up and request a system!
If it were otherwise we'd have the world covered by now... Wink

Production runs are not necessarily a matter of cash flow... that's 'easily' resolved... and a minor factor...
This is a 'living' 'evolving' 'scientific' project, not a consumer off-the-shelf bells, beeps, and lights gizmo.
...keep in mind this is an educational,. experimental scientific network characterized as 'hobbyist',
and changes and refinements are a part of that process toward perfection...
...generally expect most production runs will have a minor 'improvement' or component modification from the previous.
...and delivery of the factory assemblies is just the beginning of a time consuming process of checking and programming each board individually,
assembling the order and shipping it.

I tried to buy a RED system loooong time ago, without luck.
Hope to haver better luck now with the BLUE system!

I support that! But for some reason, we are stuck way at the end of the ranking list, so it will probably take years before we are blessed up here. Well, then maybe that is only fair considering we are such a small part of the demanding world. So patience it will have to be....
Can you estimate how many stations do you prepare per month?

If my RED station display Hard ERRORs all the time and goes restart is that possible to have any "fasttrack" to replace with a blue?

1.  Not really possible to answer... depends on how many have actually confirmed  notifications and placed actual orders.
2. Assuming your have thoroughly troubleshot issue, hard faults re not necessarily a malfunction... email Egon Directly.

I have a System Blue that I am thinking of selling if someone is interested.  I ended up with a contract deal with USPLN and do not need two systems (also never finished the antenna build).  It is FULLY ASSEMBLED and comes with the power supply, GPS Antenna and I even have an almost fully assembled field antenna with all the windings complete.  Please see the photos and if interested, let me know ASAP with an offer.  I would require PayPal payment or money order for quick shipping.  I have a few other people interested from other boards so I am not sure how long I will have it!

Best,

Jeff

Any idea how to add one's name to the order list for a system blue?
Any idea how much it costs?

Hello,

Earlier today I entered my e-mail address in the "Cover your Area" section and I was informed that I am now the last in the queue (2284). Below, this message was displayed in red:

Your request will be treated preferentially, since you have allread submitted your email before July 5. 2016.

I had forgotten that I had already submitted my e-mail address last year. The thing is, I never received any mail with an invitation to place an order, and I routinely check my Spam folder for anything of interest. Could there have been an omission or a technical glitch somewhere?

Thanks!

Depends where you are located.

For example if you are in a highly covered area you will be low priority as top priority is given to less covered areas.

I believe Egon has posted here the queue priorities.

Thanks Egon, but I don't think there's any need to investigate when the e-mail was initially sent; I got it last night and already replied with the requested information.
Hello,
I can place a lightning detector at a very convenient location: Czech Republic - Suchý vrch (995 meters above sea level) - GPS: 50.0508167N, 16.6934506E, https://mapy.cz/s/1jGJo .

When can I get "system blue"?

Thank you.

You would likely be low priority as that area is highly covered already.
