This is to purposely prohibit any manufacturing outside of official channels????
Didn't realize this would be such a "Taboo" topic.

Actually, not 'taboo'.... just obsolete. Maybe a few years too late.
With recent life events, I've had to back off activities, but I watch the forum, just can't participate as much. It's cool to see someone grab hold of this thing and pursue it 'with vigor'.... I felt like your efforts deserved a heartfelt response, from my point of view and opinion... maybe sounds a bit tactless, but here goes...
Users of red aren't necessarily into either expanding, or repairing their systems, since the red technology is over a decade old, and MANY system parts aren't available anymore, or extremely difficult to find... remember this was a 'hand assembled' system, using old design and style components. Most who 'wanted' E field, added it when it was actually 'available'. There are few folks who have acquired an older 'retired' red from someone who either already have E field circuitry, OR are not interested. The original "E field" was "basically" an add on for RED, has Three different bandwidth channels, was refined to a single channel in the BLUE 'max' system, and deemed impractical for the (basically) plug'n'play, lower cost BLUE mini system. E Field operation is distinct and separate from H field, offers different analysis potential, and was basically so misunderstood by the general operator population, that EGON, et.al. never really proceeded with the complex algorithms to process the potential stroke parameters E offers. The original E operating paradigm somehow got lost in the 'race to be number one, how far can I 'detect', etc... stuff. My opinion. Damn shame, actually.
Along similar lines, few operators IMO actually understand how they're missing the boat on H field operation, and I'm convinced that EGON et.al. have been very reluctant to actually implement calculations of precision, etc., simply because there are so many improperly configured systems, weird antenna configurations, all about the 'how do I compare with others' mentality, etc... and a lack of understanding exactly how this network functions, much less of "what is lightning". The parameters the system is capable of utilizing (
assuming E field was also properly understood and implemented for some parameters) include polarity, type, relative energy, even altitude and possibly 'distance stroke traveled'...
(with some serious computer power and processing... altitude and relative power are TOUGH), but such goes undeveloped on the server because of the widespread inconsistency in station parameters.
Keep on 'trudging'! Enjoy!
