E-Field Antenna and 60 Hz power lines

Thinking about antennas, before I have the system:

How far away from the top power line (residential street HV to the pole transformer) do I need to be?  How much 60 Hz rejection does the Blue system have?

Short answer,... 100 miles if possible. Smile
Generally pretty immune... unless there are issues with Power transformers, arcing insulators, bad grounds,...
now, multiples of line freq can irritate somewhat... my systems are within 100 feet of power line... but
my noise comes from neighbors, and stuff in my own house.
it's street lights, dimmers, arcing motors, items that generate a lot of near-field magnetic that cause the issues...
the E field isn't bothered by a lot of that...
No one can tell you ... that's part of the 'fun of discovery'.... Big Grin and the thrill of finding the best locations...

50/60 Hz rejection in the special E-Field amplifier is huge.
Frequencies below 3000 Hz are not used, and therefore is strongly damped

Cutty comments carefully cover the problems that may arise

We have receivers less than 200m from 400KV without any problems.
I had 10KV approx. 15m from my antenna - without problems :-)

With the E-Field antenna it is possible to determine the polarity of the lightning, which makes it interesting.

To detect lightning in short distances, E-Field is extremely useful, and sensitivity must be low (that is, less influence from the surroundings).

System BLUE have a HP filter that reject perfectly the 50/60Hz electromagnétic field. . The problem is the harmónics generated by arcing in the power system trought our components leaks. I have 3 power lines (two of 30Kv and one 15Kv) about 50m away from my house and with hP filter on, I have no problems! The big problems are the omnipresent switching power supply, and the switching celular chargers! Today I installed the digital lowpass filters in all channels and it seems working fine. I tuned the filter in 40Khz and much of the noise go away!
