Hi Tobi,
Help me understand this. I see lightining and ear too, my station and others detect that but system say is a false positive? Something is wrong, sometimes i have thunderstorm near to my house and system continue say false positive. I reduced gain for detect near to me and higher for detect far away from me. Is not possible change something with false positives? Thanks for you possible explanation. Regards. Miguel

I've been having issues with the Lightningmaps.org page since firefox 30 (currently firefox 33). It used to be very fluid but now the imaging is very sticky to the point of freezing the browser. I don't know the cause. Whether I have to change a setting in the browser or if something on the web page needs adjusting.

I followed lightning evolution in Rome during last 2 hours: blitzortung map said 25-30 strokes/min fell.... but I didn't see a single ligthining or heard a single thunder.
How is it possible?!? MOD EDIT - DUPLICATE POST: SEE https://forum.blitzortung.org/showthread.php?tid=958

Tobi, I love the real-time map- as others have said, it's mesmerizing to watch during a good storm. In fact, I ordered a kit after watching a huge storm over the Midwest USA for about 15 minutes.
I do have a question/request: is it possible to change the color or transparency of the station dots? They are very faint on my laptop, and hard to see unless the "strike-line" is still pointing to it. I have seen other requests to highlight one's own station (also a cool idea), perhaps this can be added to that update? Thanks!

Have I noticed a parabolic curve been introduced for tracking lines for strikes on the BO live overview map, looks cool...... That curve appearing on the longer distant tracks (my longest distance being 6100 kilometres, in Oceania our averages being in the 3000 + range) which would, I imagine, reflect the curvature of the earth.

Egon changed the data format, but in a way I didn't expect. The lines where completely wrong. It's working again now.

I run station 1187. Is it common that my station is not used for very close strikes? I don't see my station used for strikes occurring closer than 200km when viewing http://www.lightningmaps.org/realtime? map.

If your're aiming at 'distance', the near strikes may be 'distorted'... it's also possible to go into brief interference mode with near cell activity.... Remember, this is a 'network'... no station really stands alone... |
