Bug strikes missing on resizing in iOS
Posted by: chrisjost - 2017-06-17, 17:36 - Forum: Website, Maps and Applications - Replies (1)

Hello,

I've noticed that when the iOS app opens, strikes show correctly but when zooming in, they disappear upon redraw.  Has anyone else see this behavior?

Thanks,
-Christopher

  New System Blue in Texas!
Posted by: rocketman - 2017-06-14, 01:34 - Forum: General Discussion - No Replies

Hi all,

Just got my System Blue up and running south of Houston. In the next couple of months I will be relocating it to a remote area of west Texas in the Big Bend region. There is a definite hole in coverage out there that I hope to fill.  Smile

BIG thanks to mike6158 for the build and advice!!!

  Powering up puzzle
Posted by: MonkeeRench - 2017-06-12, 21:15 - Forum: Hardware, Software, Lightning Physics - Replies (16)

With the power switch off at the controller, when I plug in the USB power supply, all the LEDs seem to go thru test-blinking, then the Power and Mode LEDs remain on, just as they are when I turn on the power switch.  The red LED on the connected E-Field pre-amp board is also always lit.
Confused -- shouldn't the power switch shut off everything? Huh

  Offset adjustment
Posted by: radiofarol - 2017-06-11, 10:49 - Forum: Hardware, Software, Lightning Physics - Replies (4)

Does someone tell me why the system graphic of my detector show always a offset of + 50/60mV from zero? Can I adjust this anywhere? In the web interface, a can`t find any adjustment for this! It`s seem any wrong value in the ADC.  Huh

  • Sampling per InputResolution: 12bits, Period: 666ns = 500.0kSPS, Time: 2000ns

  • ADC1
    • Input1 Amp-Channel 3 , Offset 26mV, no Trigger
    • Input2 Amp-Channel 4 , Offset 30mV, Trigger -90mV/90mV
  • ADC2
    • Input1 Amp-Channel 2 , Offset 30mV, Trigger -95mV/95mV
    • Input2 Amp-Channel 3 , Offset 25mV, no Trigger
  • ADC3
    • Input1 Amp-Channel 1 , Offset 39mV, Trigger -95mV/95mV
    • Input2 Amp-Channel 2 , Offset -151mV, no Trigger

  • Thanks for your help!

  Blitzortung Detector
Posted by: faustdownunder - 2017-06-10, 03:19 - Forum: Hardware, Software, Lightning Physics - Replies (8)

Hello

Detector hardware arrived today. Assembly will start next week.

I wonder if anyone has some tips for minimum-trouble assembly, do's and dont's ?

I am reasonably experienced with electronics but being at an age over 60 years, there can be challenges Smile

Any advice English/German is welcome.

  Digital lowpass filter
Posted by: radiofarol - 2017-06-09, 23:39 - Forum: Hardware, Software, Lightning Physics - Replies (3)

today I installed the four digital lowpass filters. The noise floor droped from 110mV to 50mV,  Which allowed me to raise the gain to 16X10 with no problem. I`m running in manual mode. I`m testing yet the best value for LPF tune, but seems to be around 50KHz. I have the LPF tuned in 25Khz and monitoring the spectrum but I can`t see advantage  in relation to 50Khz. I have a lot of militar stations in VLF with very strong signals (about 75 or more dBuV) between 15KHz and 60Khz which occupy part of spectrum, but apparently without causing problems.  I`m able to tune and measure this stations on my VLF receiver R&S EK070, with an R&S EH10 active antenna. I also took 4 outputs on the back panel to connect the oscilloscope.
I think the lowpass filters were a good investment, but I have to wait some more time to check the operation.

Registered, but faaarrrrr down the list

Hi all,

Have you, per chance, considered a map showing areas of interest?

I've just indicated my interest in a receiver (I want to put together the whole shebang), but it might (at rank 2347) be years before I'll reach the "interested" point. I can fully understand if you have an area flooded with receivers that it will prove of no further value getting another, but there is nothing on the site (that I found) to indicate whether there is value in registering interest.

Yours,

  PCB 21

If the improved voltage regulator PCB 21 is now necessary for System Blue, where does one obtain the PCB 21 board -- or does one need to build it from scratch?

  Arduino and project.

Good day to all! Question about using Arduino in the project. Maybe someone has had this problem? I think that in this case the project can be more widely distributed.
