  OT - Security alert: Change your passwords
Posted by: mwaters - 2021-06-09, 19:27 - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (1)

https://bgr.com/tech/data-leak-exposes-b...e-5930388/

"Basically, there’s been another huge data leak, this time exposing several billion passwords in what just might be the biggest dump of passwords online ever.

"If you’re reading these words, suffice it to say you probably need to change your passwords. Today, even. That’s because this new password leak is comparable in scale to the so-called “Compilation of Many Breaches,” or COMB, ...

"This new leaked password dataset, of course, is more than double that previous collection. And when you stop and consider that there are more than 7 billion people in the world, this means that there’s a strong likelihood that one of your myriad passwords is very likely caught up in this leak. CyberNews is recommending that anyone who wants to check and see if their passwords are included in this dataset should visit the CyberNews personal data leak checker or the leaked password checker, where password entries from the RockYou2021 compilation are being uploaded. ...   lightningmaps.org stroke alerts email
Posted by: Miratown - 2021-06-07, 09:35 - Forum: Website, Maps and Applications - Replies (4)

Hi everyone, I have an issue with  stroke alerts email from lightnining.org:
the alert emails sent to a specific domain (@aruba.it) aren't delivered anymore (they worked fine till last March).
I already contacted the recipient provider but it was unable to help me without a delivery failure msg received back by lightiningh.org to investigate...
Is there anyone who experienced similar behaviour with others domains?
Anyone from lightining.org can help me?
Thanks.
Sandro

  Chrome doesn't work as well as Firefox when talking to station
Posted by: philip - 2021-05-30, 19:42 - Forum: Hardware, Software, Lightning Physics - Replies (6)

If I use Chrome (I'm on version 90), then I get these errors (I'm running FW 9.2 RED)

Code:
script.js?9.2:1 A parser-blocking, cross site (i.e. different eTLD+1) script, http://www.lightningmaps.org/control/?js&station=1182&fw=9.2&ext, is invoked via document.write. If blocked in this page load, it will be confirmed in a subsequent console message. See https://www.chromestatus.com/feature/5718547946799104 for more details.

It looks as though jquery doesn't get loaded early enough. $ does end up being defined. I've tried clearing the cache etc, but it doesn't seem to help.

FIrefox (87) works as expected.

  Lighning - a panic dog
Posted by: Blubbel - 2021-05-27, 15:13 - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (3)

Hi All of you and greetings from Austria.

I'm using a Home Automatization System Homematic from ELV together with ioBroker. My dog is superscared on Thunderstorms, especially on lighnings, she will go to superpanic level.
My plan is to close the blinds (Rollläden) automatically as soon as a thunderstorm approaches.  It is then dark and she is then no longer afraid and in panic mode because she cannot see the lightning.
I have tried a lightning sensor on ESP basis with the Franklin sensor, but unfortunately failed, I can not get it to work, I guess my soldering skills are too bad Wink
My question now, is it possible to access the real time data in a certain radius directly to have the blinds close automatically with eg. ioBroker? I mean, instead of seeing the web page and the Lightning events zoomed to the area on screen just the data of the Lightning events in that area.

Thanke & DANKE für some hints!

Have a great evening, Andreas

Smile Station blue not visibile on local server ID
Posted by: Elektrofeldmeter - 2021-05-16, 19:06 - Forum: Hardware, Software, Lightning Physics - Replies (6)

Hi,

I make a short post to explain what happened to me recently. I bought a second hand station with programmed network parameters which were not suited to my network.  The consequence qas a steadily blinking network LED. I was not able to understand the underlying problem... because you need access to the embedded html server of the blue system in order to make a nice and easy diagnostic.
I then had a look at the forum and I could not find any hints, I then started on my own trying things. I resolved the problem (on linux but on windows it would be the same) by connecting a Serial to USB adaptator, see pic below.

I then tried with the moserial software to understand the message delivered by the blue system, to this end I had to adapt the communication speed between my computer and the blue system (config file for the moserial software is also attached to this post). I used a FT232 adapter from waveshare configured in 3.3 V.

The config file for the moserial is also reminded below:
[port_settings]

device=/dev/ttyUSB0
baud_rate=115200
data_bits=8
stop_bits=1
parity=0
handshake=3
access_mode=0
local_echo=false

.txt   Moserial_Blitzortung_Blue_System_Settings.txt (Size: 355 bytes / Downloads: 4)

I could then read the message provided by the blue system during the initialization phase (after reseting the system), see an exemplary copy of it:
2013-01-01 00:20:06 1050.2 | === Network static config is: ===

2013-01-01 00:20:06 1050.2 | IP:      192.168.50.235
2013-01-01 00:20:06 1050.2 | Netmask:  255.255.255.0
2013-01-01 00:20:06 1050.2 | Gateway:  192.168.50.1
2013-01-01 00:20:06 1050.2 | DNS:      8.8.8.8
2013-01-01 00:20:06 1050.2 | DHCP:    off
2013-01-01 00:20:06 1050.2 | MAC:      xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx
2013-01-01 00:20:06 1050.2 | MTU:      1480
2013-01-01 00:20:06 1050.2 |
2013-01-01 00:20:06 1050.2 | EVENT: Network is UP

This message showed me clearly that the system was looking for the wrong local network address, I had to change my local network address in order to fulfill the requirement of the blue system. Using this approach I could connect to my Blitzortung box though the router and reconfigure it properly. I switched on the DHCP and then I could manage having everything working.

It is not very complex but you should trust in your competence and try to perform wild debugging.

I hope that this contribution couöd help people in the future.

Regards

  Sky News - accuracy of data
Posted by: adamparker - 2021-05-12, 07:22 - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (1)

Hi all,

Adam here from Sky News. We had a horrible incident last night in the UK where a boy was killed by a lightning strike. I wanted to ask about the accuracy of the mapping and how much margin of error there is likely to be?

I am considering taking a screenshot to show lightning strikes happening in the area around the time of the incident.

Thanks for your help

  Network problems

Hi,

I have the same problem as Wilku and wheronet, DHCP keeps requesting a new lease every 4 or 5 minutes even though it connects.  Debug log also shows the same errors as Wilku.

system Blue FW9.2 PCB19.3

I can't go to this link

Cutty reply to Wilku
See this thread [Image: dodgy.gif]  https://forum.blitzortung.org/showthread.php?tid=3438

Cutty reply to Wheronet
See this thread [Image: dodgy.gif]  https://forum.blitzortung.org/showthread.php?tid=3438  should work for you now after upgrading to participant.

Can you fix it for me too please?

Robin

  Network errors
Posted by: wheronet - 2021-05-05, 01:14 - Forum: Website, Maps and Applications - Replies (1)

For the last few days my System Blue (FW 9.2PCB 19.5/H1/E1) has been flashing the network light intermittently and then totally rebooting.

THe logs for remote configuration status show :

URL: http://tracker.blitzortung.org/control/
Next Request: in 1m, 51s
Station Id: 2882
User Id: 2269
Requests: 101 with 209kB and 98 errors.

Am I doing something wrong, it's a fairly recent error (I think)?

Is there a newer firmware I should be using?

Edit: I see a similar issue on this locked post https://forum.blitzortung.org/showthread.php?tid=3443 , but the link to https://forum.blitzortung.org/showthread.php?tid=3438 doesn't work for me
