  Link to request account
Posted by: diaan - 2017-11-30, 17:40 - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (5)

Hi all,

Got my system blue up and running!

I see no "link to request an account for Blitzortung.org."

What am I missing? I have looked everywhere (Except for the right spot, obviously!) but do not see it.

I want to update the firmware since it says "unknown pc board", but cannot download it without an account.

Please assist.

Get no IP - What's wrong?
Posted by: glump - 2017-11-28, 13:27 - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (6)

Hello community,

I'm new here and got my kit today and soldered right away.
It lacks only the 2 filter IC's because I am not clear in which filter I should solder them.
There are 4 on the circuit board.
  Does not it matter?
First everything built into the case and then connected a 5V 2A power supply.
The red power LED lights up and it beeps twice -
then the mode LED flickers very weak and after some time it beeps again.
The LEDs on the network socket light or flicker with the traffic on the network.
Unfortunately, I get from DHCP (SBS Server 2011) obviously no IP address.
Even a test for a new router with DHCP was unsuccessful.

Have again taken the board out of the housing and tested all solder joints - looks good.
Inside, the red LED on the GPS receiver is flashing. There is a new GPS antenna connected.
The 2 crystals are on the correct position.

Does anyone have a tip for me ....

  Greetings from Carinthia,

Hallo Gemeinde,

  Zero noise, trigger disabled

Hi,
I´ve just assembled my System blue (station 2042), I connected E-field pre-amp with wire antenna, but the amplifiers are not receiving any signal (see the photo bellow). Noise level is 0mVpp and the trigger is disabled at all channels. Has anybody any experience with this problem? Thanks for your ideas.

  Solar Powering with Power bank
Posted by: GilbertKE - 2017-11-18, 10:07 - Forum: Hardware, Software, Lightning Physics - Replies (3)

Hello all,
We ordered some System Blues, now in transit to Kenya, that we plan to put them multiple locations in East Africa.

Have anyone tried powering the whole system with a power bank and solar panels? I think 5V, 1 A can power the device and an internet device
This is what I am thinking:

  1. Power system Blue with power bank, chargeable with solar panels.
  2. Internet supplied by 3G WiFi Router with Ethernet and WiFi SIM Card Router Huawei E5730: (https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/U...570eHn3vyU
Anyone with experience on best components to look for ?

  Detecting in other Zones?
Posted by: MooreGeo - 2017-11-11, 20:11 - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (5)

Is there any way to be able to detect strikes in other zones in the world (Oceania or Europe).  I'm just curious how far away I can detect strikes.  Hawaii is the most distant location for me and I usually detect strikes there when they occur.  Thank you all in advance Smile

Hi All
I hope it is OK to use the forum for this but I thought many of us would be interested in the weather as well as lightning. You may have heard of the Blake Larsen Sunrecorder (I am the Blake part).
See www.sunrecorder.net
Our present recorder is being superseded by a professionally made unit so we have a few left to sell at a very reasonable price - 160eu (plus vat for europe). Make contact via the website above.

  East Africa

I am new to Blitzortnung and we would like to build a small (5 nodes?) network in East Africa (Kenya, Uganda & Rwanda). We do this from Delft University of Technology, Netherlands. It seems there are not too many stations in that part of the world. Would this be of interest to others as well?

Question WANTED! - System Red PCB 12 Amp board
Posted by: Dave.Auld - 2017-10-25, 08:03 - Forum: Hardware, Software, Lightning Physics - No Replies

Hi All,

I am looking for a replacement fully assembled working System Red amplifier board PCB 12 Ver.3C

The one I had in Qatar on system 1365 took the worst of the elements and is heavily corroded and non-functional. The system has now moved to Cyprus and looking to resurrect it, but need a replacement amplifier board. I do not have all my tools and soldering stations etc here in Cyprus to try and repair, hence a complete assembled board is what i would like.

The RJ45 is heavily corroded and damaged, so is the USB connector, I also suspect the Reset button is U/S and the gain pot most likely duff.

Has anybody got one spare that they do not need and could send to me? Yes, I can cover costs of postage if required....(via paypal).

Here's in anticipation!

Thanks,
Dave

Hi All
At risk of suggesting something already well known (though I've not seen it here)  I came across this copper foil. It's self adhesive and ideal for wrapping around a plastic tube.
