  USER DB Updates not OK

Hello
Just tried to update my user data in the DB. Updates are taken in the user data form but not stored in the DB. After transmitting the updated form one gets back immediately the former unchanged data.

  Low Pass Filter problems

Hi,

I have bought 3 off digital filter ICs but have one problem and a question.

E-Field Problem
When I select the LP filter on the E-field I just see loads of 50Hz noise.  Clearly there is an open circuit on the LP filter output, but I have been all round the chip and all connections are okay.  I am thinking it is further on in the circuit. 

Has anyone had this problem and could suggest where the open circuit might be? Alternatively I can trace the signal if I had a circuit and layout diagram.  I am an electronics engineer and have access to a full workshop with lots of test kit.

H-field question
I installed LP filters on H1 and H2, they are working great and set to 16kHz, they cut my noise from 60mV to 16mV.  However, I expected the thresholds to reduce, but they haven't, so whilst I have really low noise, I actually detect less signals as the signal peaks have been smoothed a little and now don't make the thresholds.

I am running in auto mode, should I be in manual and are there any suggested settings?

  Grounding and antenna placement dilemma

How to find a good connection in a multi appartment building on the 3rd floor? Can I connect my blue system to the grounding wire of the house electric installation? What is recommended to do in my case? Where to put the E-field antenna in my appartement? Would it be sufficient to put it behind a window?

  Low Density of Florida Strikes 2015-2016

Hi,
I have been looking at the U.S. density map for past years, and noticed that the Florida panhandle has a very low density of lightning strikes.
The gulf coast from Houston to west Florida, however, has some pretty high densities.

The station coverage looks better in the Florida peninsula than most of the area between Houston and west Florida.

So why does the Florida panhandle look so quiet 2015-2016?  Surely the panhandle has the highest actual lightning density on average, right?

  H field big difference in gain

Hi,

I have two ferrite rods, one facing north south, the other facing east west.  The north south ferrite gets assigned gain of 800, the east west gets gain of 1600, noise is about the same. If I move the two antennas round by 90 degrees the gains on the amps swap so the new north south antenna still has the lower gain.

Do north south ferrites always have a lower gain, or is it some form of interference either to the north or south of my location which causes the higher noise/lower gain?

Would shielding the ferrites work?

  Small bug in Blue settings 83b2...

Yesterday I upgraded my System Blue PCB 19.3 with 2 filter IC's. Currently I'm playing with the configuration and settings and think this will take some days and different lightning situations...

I've disabled digital noise adaption in AMP1, applied and saved but there is still the warning: "Automatic noise adaptation is enabled. Controller might use lower gains to stay above noise level."

I do not use AMP2 (disabled) and don't have installed a filter here but there is also the same message.

SW is 8.3b2 and I'm in Manual mode. On the Sttaus page everything is OK.

Greetings!

I took a picture of the aluminum case. In the corner you will find tapped holes. Be sure to clean the pieces of metal left behind by the manufacturing process. These small pieces of metal, if left behind, can mean the difference between working and not-working.

Also, look along the rest of the edges. You may find other small pieces there as well.

Using your fingers is not a good way to clean either. These small slivers can enter your skin and cause irritation.

  H-Field antenna for system BLUE

Hello,

my name is Michael, i am from Austria, nearby Linz. Since a few day`s i am running a System BLUE (station id: 1650) and i decided to use a loop antenna with a diamater of 1000m and 8 turns. Is it nessasary to adjust the antenne in NS direction?

The E-Fild antenna i placed on a tree in about 5m heigth. The length is about 100mm.

Sometimes the nois is very high, my station sent 26000 signal, others arount 3000. Yesterday i tryed to use the manual mode and the ratio rises up. In the morning the nois again was very high. Now it seems to work.

Dose anybody have experince with the filter IC?

Hallo Forum!

Ich möchte mal einen Denkansatz anstoßen zum Thema Loops.
Im System Blue haben wir ja 3 VV-IN zur Verfügung. Nun wäre die Frage, ob es signaltechnisch relevant und notwendig ist, separate N/S O/W Antennen anzuschließen.
Hintergrund: Die Loops und die Ferrite haben ja eine Doppelkeulencharakteristik (oder auch Doppel-Loop würde ich es nennen). Mit 2 um 90° versetzten Antennen (bei den meisten Usern wohl so) habe ich jedoch bei 45° / 135° usw. ein "Empfangsloch".  Meine Überlegung wäre jetzt gewesen, 2 Doppelloop-Kombis zu nutzen, die um 45° versetzt sind. Dazu bräuchte man theoretisch ja 4 Eingänge. Wäre es denn nicht auch möglich, je eine Lopo-Kombi parralel zu verschalten und so pro Doppel-Loop nur einen Eingang zu belegen? Oder ist das signaltechnisch usw. keine gute Idee?
Wäre mal sehr interessant den Egon oder den Tobi dazu zu hören ;-)
