  Station maintainance
Posted by: guidoco - 2016-07-24, 20:53 - Forum: Hardware, Software, Lightning Physics - Replies (3)

The strikes seem to be pretty accurate except for 2 local stations that I have never seen reister a strike. Station # 1163 in Redmond and station # 1238 in Port Townsend are both close enough to pick up strong lightning in Seattle, Everett, and Marysville. We have had several strong lightning storms in the area with jothing showing locally.

Thanks for any info on why strikes on the West of the mountains don't show op.

  long term statistics possible?
Posted by: dlen - 2016-07-23, 17:05 - Forum: Website, Maps and Applications - Replies (2)

Hi,

IMO it would be interesting to be able to answer statistical questions like

How many lightning happened per year in this and this region (europe, germany, france, northern america......)?

With this, one could look if there's a trend, which could be attributed to climate change.

Does such a possibility exist?

greetings - Dominik

  Server Hardware?
Posted by: tobby - 2016-07-19, 17:46 - Forum: Hardware, Software, Lightning Physics - Replies (3)

Hi

I just discovered this nice project! Good job! Smile

I saw, that you need much power for computing the data you get from the stations. Since I have access to several servers with decent hardware (up to Skylake Xeons) and good internet connections (Gbit) I just wanted to ask: Is there any need in more server hardware running in datacenters?

If this sounds interesting, please contact me. I think I can organize some "stuff" without monthly fees and with cheap one-time fees, maybe even for free.

  New system, noob questions
Posted by: Junebug - 2016-07-18, 14:11 - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (4)

Hi all,

Finally got my Blue system up and running here in Asheville NC (Station 1542).

Looking for a little help.

1) Is there a definitive guide to "tuning" the system.  I seem to get a lot of signals, but very few are used in locating strikes.  I have tried manually tuning but in the dark as to what the best approach is.

2) When I assembled by system this weekend I noticed the assembly guide had changed.  Now it calls for an auxiliary voltage regulator (PCB 21).  How do I go about getting one.

Regards,

Junebug

A "stroke" is a medicinal abnomaly!

Hi,
I would like to bring to your attention that we are discussing lightning  Lightning  strikes or flashes here but definitely not "strokes"
