  too much noise

I'm struggling for two days by moving the antenna in order to reduce the number of received signal ... today I accidentally discovered that even without the antenna receiving the same number of signals?!
Station 1701, system blue, two ferrite antennas.

I realized I should have put this in the internal forums. Here's a link to that discussion-

  No lightning

Hi, I currently live in Mauritius and we are in the middle of a thunderstorm at the moment but the lightning is not appearing on the map. Our nearest detector would seem to be in Reunion, about 200-300km away. Any ideas why? Thank you.

  Cost of upgrade
Posted by: LeeJerry - 2017-01-25, 08:08 - Forum: General Discussion - No Replies

Hi,
I just would like to say that I can not a ford the cost of up grade to  system blue. I understand that green will be phased out shortly. so 608 Ne Beith will be shut down soon. Thank all of you for your support over the past years.

Cheers
Jerry

Smile MyBo und PHP 7
Posted by: SilvioSc - 2017-01-17, 11:10 - Forum: Non-English - Replies (2)

  Lightning oscillations
Posted by: jimlucke - 2017-01-13, 15:37 - Forum: Hardware, Software, Lightning Physics - Replies (8)

What is the cause of the "W" shape in my lightning signal? Is it real or is there a resonance in my antenna? Sometimes there are more cycles but the spacing is consistent, around 10 kHz. I don't see this curve in any articles about lightning physics, though some show oscillations but very rough.

I have seen this curve in other nearby station's data but I do not know their antenna setup. I have 4 turns on a 1-meter X-frame, no transformer, directly connected to the external H-amplifier. Turn spacing is about 2 mm.

Because of bad noise I have the low-pass filter installed, but I have seen the same curves without the filter during lucky stretches when the noise stops.

All the strikes are 2500 km or more from me, so maybe the curve is explained by different frequencies taking different paths. I will have to wait until summer to see the shape of closer strikes.

I will try to attach an image from lightningmaps.org

  Unknown GPS
Posted by: Steela85 - 2016-12-04, 15:05 - Forum: Hardware, Software, Lightning Physics - Replies (8)

Hi,
I assembled the station, System Blue, firmware 8.2_Blue, but GPS reports: Availability: 100% Type: Unknown, 115200 baud rate. Did not get valid data from GPS for ... (Debug log: Buffer overrun - Didn't receive GGA/RMC sentence)
In addition I can't see Station Id and User ID. They are both "0".
What should I do?

Thank you in advance

Steela85
